Again the Hellingprofs took the victory by 4-3, that was two out of two! In the end the boys got it together and won 4-1 (with Harmen as supporter, unfortunately not in banana suit).Īfter this it was whiffleball time (like baseball, only then with a plastic bat and ball). The Hellingprofs were clearly flabbergasted by the beast mode of these girls, since they had to come back from 0-1. The expectations were not really high, and this was noticeable in the first match: basketball against girls from the Wageningen warriors. A few weesk ago the Batavierenrace was the final test for this squad. After months of preparations and trainings the Hellingprof squad was: Alger, Gijs, Martijn, Niels and Robin. Five different sports were practiced: basketball, whiffleball (yes, it is a sport), lacrosse, American football, and beerpong. In this competition six teams were battling for the win. Last Friday a team of Hellingproof was present at the USA sports day. Due to problems with his gear Martijn had to left the race because of 4 minutes distance on the peloton, but he rode very strong. Today the teams from DM and Mercurius were with many people. Hellingprofs participating in this race were Bart, Martijn, Alger, Bram and Onno. Linda became third in the race, which is a very good performance!Īfter Linda it was the turn of the man without licence. Just after him Linda and a man from Dutch Mountains finished in a close sprint with only a few mm difference. At the last climb of the race one of the man in the leading group escaped, won the race. The organisation had to search quickly for a Mister instead of a Miss. ‘Who is that woman? That’s not a woman, it’s a machine’. Supporters were very surprised that there was a woman in the leading group. After a few rounds one of the man got a flat tire, and the leading group continued with 3. She was the only women in the race, but she cycled very strong! Soon a leading group was formed, and of course Linda was part of it, together with 3 man. After a long journey we arrived in Maastricht, just in time for the start of the Linda who participated in the fun class. In the train it was quite busy with other bikers, and at one time there were even 9 bikes in the bicycle coupé. 8:15 AM we left to the sunny south of the Netherlands together with 5 Hellingprofs. We had to get up early to be on time in Maastricht. There was nearly no flat piece in the lap of 3.5 km. On Sunday 21 May the round of Wolder was held. The women finished at a 6th place.Īll in all it was a super weekend, with lots of sunshine!! Unfortunately the men just missed the podium and ended up at the 4th overall place. Conor and Gijs finished just behind the peloton. Tjalle also rode in the peloton, until he had a puncture 1,5 lap before the finish. Bas and Robin finished in the reduced peloton. Niels was able to ride in the breakaway group and finished 7th. Els finished just behind the peloton, while Sigrid and Vera were in another group behind Els. Esther rode very strong, but suffered a puncture in the final lap. Unfortunately no points were obtained by the women.

In the criterium that followed it was full gas from the start in both races. They were now on the second place overall, with only a small gap to the number one!

#Susan drove at an average speed trial#
Our Hellingproof men were on fire and won the team time trial with force majeure. The women rode a strong time trial and finished 6th. In the team sprint both the women and men became 5th.Īfter a nice Saturday evening the hardest day was here: a team time trial and a criterium.

For the men Niels became 2nd, Bas 6th and Tjalle 16th. For the prologue the ladies unfortunately did not earned points, but Sigrid rode strongly to a 12th place, Els 15th and Vera 18th. In between the naps on the grass everybody did their job. Three of our strongest time trial ladies and men rode the prologue, while the sprinters (more or less) started in the team sprint. The next day a prologue of 4.2 km and a team sprint were planned. On Friday evening we clearly won the first “race” on the party, unfortunately no points were obtained for this. Only the first ten teams/riders got points for the overall team classification. In total four different races were organised. The men were with six riders: Bas, Conor, Gijs, Niels, Robin and Tjalle. For the women Els, Esther, Sigrid and Vera were present. During the weekend of 9 till 11 June Hellingproof defended the pride of Wageningen on the GNSK in Eindhoven.
